Areas of Focus

Affordable Housing and Community Development

Opus Bank provides grants and investments that support the creation of affordable housing, as well as the creation or sustainability of safe, clean, and desirable neighborhoods in the communities in which Opus Bank does business. Opus Bank supports programs and activities that enhance the quality of life in the communities the bank serves or promote economic self-sufficiency for residents of those communities, particularly for those of limited means.

Education and Financial Literacy

Opus Bank supports programs in the areas of education, after-school activities, mentoring, literacy, and other programs that give our youth inspiration, a sense of community, and promote self-worth. We sponsor financial literacy programs in grades pre-K through 12, with preference given to schools serving LMI communities.

Health and Human Services

The Opus Community Foundation supports organizations that provide assistance to children, the elderly, and others who need specialized health care. These organizations and programs may include food banks and free meal providers, vocational training, and activities for the physically or developmentally disabled.

The Arts

The Opus Community Foundation supports organizations that inspire artistic expression and bring culture to audiences throughout our communities, making life more vibrant for all. These programs may be in the areas of the performing arts, arts education, and events for children and families. Special consideration is given to programs that create cultural opportunities for children or serve LMI communities.

LMI Persons or Communities

Additional consideration will be given to proposals that are targeted to LMI persons or communities. In general, the purpose of these grants is to fund community based organizations in their community development efforts. LMI is defined as less than 80% of an area's median income. The Opus Community Foundation will require documentation to support that the proposal targets and has a primary purpose of benefiting LMI persons or communities.
