| Some
things are just worth waiting for. Imagine that juicy burger, just
off the grill, prepared in one of nearly a dozen ways with the freshest
of ingredients. Or how about the famous "Panther Burger,"
known as the best burger in Snohomish and for miles around. Then
imagine that you have to wait a couple of years to get one. Would
you wait? There's no doubt.
The
Hub restaurant in Snohomish is the home of the Panther Burger and
has, over the last 40 years, established itself as a fixture in
the community. After a two-year closure for reconstruction, the
Hub is back — bigger and better than ever. The restaurant
is owned by Steve and Noreen Dana, and has gone from being a small
hamburger stand owned years ago by Steve's parents to a roomy sit-down
restaurant with a drive through and espresso bar. The new place
has state-of-the-art equipment and a fireplace to give it that homey
touch. The Danas have big plans for the expanded menu that includes
breakfast. Steve noted, "Our mission is to provide good food
and good service in a clean and friendly environment." They
opened in August to big crowds of locals and lines at the drive-through
that extended into the street.
"We're
flattered that people care," said Steve. "For us what's
important is the relationship with our customers. Whether we were
in the hamburger business or in the hardware business we would have
the same relationship with our customers because that's the kind
of people we are — that's what's been successful for us. The
time we were closed has been painful because we missed the daily
interaction. My wife Noreen loves interacting with people. She has
a knack for remembering people's birthdays — it's an example
of the kinds of relationships we have with people."
Steve
and Noreen chose Cascade Bank because of Business Banker Bob Miller
who participated in the local Kiwanis. "Bob knew I'd been talking
to another bank and that bank hadn't done well for me. He told me
if I ever needed somebody to talk to about it, he'd be happy to
help. I didn't know anybody else at Cascade Bank, but I had one
guy there that cared about me," said Steve. "Banks are
like restaurants — they're about people."
